Meet Kelly of Little Elfs Toyshop:

My name is Kelley and I make waldorf style dolls and toys and needle felted figurines. I do my best to use natural materials whenever possible, though some of my items do have materials that are synthetic. I love kids and making kids happy and have wanted to be a toy maker ever since I was a little girl. All of my toys are double sewn for best quality and are made with lots of love and care. I want these toys to last a long time so they can be loved for many, many moons.

I want to thank everyone for looking and for all your interest and support. If I can bring a smile to your face than I feel I’m doing my job well.

Meet Jen of Tumbleberry Toys:

I am a busy, home schooling mother of four. I love to make things.

I used to always beg my mother when I was little to let me make things, but always got frustrated with the finished junky “craft.”

When I was older and had my own money to buy materials, I discovered how much funner it was to make things of high quality, all natural, albeit expensive, materials.

Knitting and doll making remain my two favorite crafting outlets. Years ago I started a quest to create the perfect doll, some results turning out better that others. When I discovered the Waldorf style of doll making, I was immediately hooked. The sweet faces, lovely yarn hair, wool stuffing, and playable finished product, and exciting creative process keeps me wanting to make more.

On top of that, my children, and all the other children I have met and made things for, are the most delightful recipients of handmade gifts. It feels so good to give a lovingly created item to those special little ones in your life.

Meet Beth of Primroses:

I started creating Waldorf dolls as break from an intense drawing project I had been working on for three years. The day I worked on my first Waldorf doll, I sat in a patch of sunshine handling pure, fluffy sheep’s wool. It was cold outside, but I was warm and happy and the wool felt springy and alive in my fingers. I thought it couldn’t get much better until the day I finished my first doll and gazed at her and saw how obvious it was that she was made with love. I wanted to fill many children’s arms with these dolls. Wool, love, and children – that is why I make Waldorf dolls.

Meet Lorilee of Mamakopp:

I am a mother who stays home with her kids to ensure they have a unique educational experience. This is the love of my life, being home with my children. Next is my love to create. I love being part of heirloom toymaking. I am very proud to be part of it and so proud to make things for famlies all over the world. I strive to tempt imagination in children as well as adults. It is important to me that each piece be made as perfect as can be. I use quality, natural materials. And hold close to my wooden art waldorf traditions. And if I can sneak in a little educational element I will.

Meet Nancy of Dragonfly’s Hollow:

Sept 1st marks our one year anniversary on Etsy…it was exactly one year ago to the day when I opened this little shop. It has been an amazing year and to celebrate we are having a giveaway on our blog. What are we giving away you might ask? It is a gorgeous 16 inch doll named Fae.

To take a peek at her and to find out the details on how to win her, visit the blog at : http://dragonflyshollow.blogspot.com/

———–

The Velveteen Rabbit was my favorite story as a child. It is the philosophy that is at the heart of all our dolls. Each is made with the fullest intention that they will be played with and loved.

I believe that the most gorgeous Waldorf doll ever is the one that is stained and worn because that doll is a lifelong best friend and companion :o)

While I am making these lovely dolls, I am a homeschooling mom of 6 absolutely wonderful children ranging in ages from 14 to 5. I love traveling and just being outdoors.

My children are my muses. They are an abundant source of enjoyment and creativity for me. Everything I make I make with the mind that I am making it for my own children.

I believe that children’s toys should be durable, made from the best, natural materials and priced reasonably. I will always strive to maintain an affordable price for my items.

Mini Monday – SewKatiepie

Meet Kate of SewKatiepie:

Hi, I’m Kate. Katiepie is one of my nicknames. I love to sew.

I’m a kiwi mother to a 2 year old daughter and live with my fantastic partner (her father) and two of his three teenage sons.

I love fabric. I have been sewing as a hobby since my grandmother bought me a sewing machine at the age of 15 (I won’t let on how long that is – I have since upgraded the machine though!). Having left the corporate world to have my daughter, I am now thoroughly enjoying being a mother and exploring a more creative lifestyle.

I also enjoy gardening, sailing, baking (such a fun activity with toddlers. Messy, but fun. Hence the line of retro aprons!) and weekly french lessons.

I am loving the opportunity to create environmentally friendly clothing for children. As a mother, I am conscious of what I feed my daughter, her environment and what I clothe her in. I love the fact that Merino wool is now available in silky soft weaves that are not scratchy and that I can throw in the washing machine – just as easy as polar fleece but oh so, so much nicer!

I hope you enjoy looking around my shop. If there is something you like but not in your required size, or something that is not currently listed but that I have sold – just convo me. I love making to order. Please don’t be shy…

I’m currently working on some more hoodies for toddlers which will be in store soon.

Meet Donni of Fairyfolk:

I grew up in South Africa… a lovely, natural childhood surrounded by animals and wilderness. I have lived in many different countries, Ireland, England, New Zealand and now finally America where we have settled at last. I have a loving Kiwi husband and two gorgeous children. Crafting is how I reconnect with myself. It is the language of my soul and spoken often. I came to needle felting only recently and have fallen in love with all of it… the sound of the needle in the wool, the smell of the wool, the feeling of my creation in my hands. I am so grateful for the wide range and color of the wool I can work with… it makes anything possible.
